Edit negative feelings by offering them to the Holy Spirit

Rewrite old wounds with joyful resolutions

“Joy comes with this way of living that is building up relationships, being of assistance to others. This is what it looks like to be authentically human!”–Fr. Christopher Collins, Habits of Freedom

WRITING PROMPT

Spend a moment thinking of a time when you failed or felt inadequate in some way. Let that memory take over for just a few minutes, recording in a journal any emotions it prompts in the present: sadness, shame, or discouragement.

Then offer all those negative feelings to the Holy Spirit, asking for them to be replaced with courage and strength, consolations, tears, inspirations, and tranquility. Write down 1-2 specific new habits, ones that build relationships and assist others, that result. End by reflecting on how these resolutions might help you avoid disconsolation in the future.
